FFRF’s State/Religion Separation Message Returns to Chicago’s Daley Center Plaza!

The FFRF Metro Chicago Chapter has once again assisted the national Freedom From Religion Foundation with its annual Spring reminder to all Americans that our country was founded as a secular nation, and that religious imagery and rituals belong in places of worship, not on government property.  Taxpayers of all faiths, and no faith, should be free from government influence regarding their religious beliefs, or lack thereof.  Just as important, religions of any tradition should have no influence regarding the legislation of our laws and public policy.

The FFRF banner we erect each year serves as a counter to a Catholic display that has been placed within the Plaza for several years during each Christian “holy week.”  It features images of and quotes from Presidents John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, assuring the American citizenry that state and religion have been and always will be kept separate.

With thanks to our awesome team of volunteers who braved the cold, windy temperatures, the FFRF banner was set up on April 1st, 2026 at Chicago’s Daley Center Plaza, and will be on display for one week when it is taken down on Wednesday, April 8th, 2026.
