We Believe…

Black Lives Matter…

…and that people of all races are entitled to the same equal rights and opportunities.

Yet the bible says God granted covenant and life-long priesthood to the Israelite Phinehas who impaled a mixed-race couple just for having sexual relations that would not keep God’s people pure (Numbers Chapter 25).

Love is Love…

…and that any such expression of affection, including the sharing of intimacy, without regard to gender, should never be considered an abomination, or illegal.

Yet the bible says, “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death.” (Leviticus Chapter 20).

And, also says, “Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another.  Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error… They know God’s decree that those who practice such things deserve to die” (Romans Chapter 1).

Feminism is for All…

…and that women and men share equal importance at home, at work, and everywhere else.

Yet the bible says, “Women should be silent in the churches.  For they are not permitted to speak, but should be subordinate, as the law also says.  If there is anything they desire to know, let them ask their husbands at home” (I Corinthians Chapter 14).

And, also says, “But woman is the reflection of man.  Indeed, man was not made from woman, but woman from man.  Neither was created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man” (I Corinthians Chapter 11).

Science is Real…

…and enlightens us to the truths of the natural world.

Yet the bible says God created the light, separating day and night, before he created the sky.  And then created two separate lights, “the greater light (the sun) to rule the day and the lesser light (the moon) to rule the night – and the stars.” But he did not create the sun, from which life cannot exist, until after he created vegetation – “plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind…” (Genesis Chapter 1).

Be Kind and Fair to All…

…without regard to race, sexual orientation, gender, or philosophical ideology

Yet the bible shows that God is responsible for the deaths of millions of people, including children.

And Jesus said, “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword (Matthew Chapter 10).

And, also said, “Whoever comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters cannot be my disciple” (Luke Chapter 14). This is known as “The Cost of Discipleship.”
